Solid waste management is the collecting, transportation, processing, recycling, and disposal of waste substances created by human activity. Waste control reduces the effect of waste on the environment, health, and so on. It can also help reuse or recycle resources, such as; newspaper, cans, glass, etc. There are various types of waste management, including the disposal of solid, liquid, gaseous, or toxic substances. Each of these different types of waste management requires different disposal methods and is often managed by someone with expertise in that field.

Disposal methods
There are a few ways to dispose of waste materials. The two chief methods of disposing of waste substances are both landfill and incineration. Each method has advantages and disadvantages.
Landfill Involves burying the waste to get rid of it. This method, if done correctly, can be inexpensive and hygienic. However, some countries don't do this procedure correctly, and this may cause such issues as wind-blown clutter, the attraction of vermin, and the generation of liquid leachate (the liquid that drains out of a landfill). Another issue that may arise from landfills is gas (usually methane and carbon dioxide) as soon as the waste breaks down over time.
Incineration involves the combustion of waste substances. With this technique, the waste material is heated to very high temperatures and is converted into materials such as heat, gas, steam, and ash. Incineration can be done on a small scale by individual people, such as in a fire, and also done on a much bigger scale via an industry. This waste management process is deemed beneficial for such substances as medical waste, and it can be used to generate energy. But, it is sometimes a controversial method of waste disposal due to the possible emission of gaseous pollutants.
Recycling methods
· Recycling refers to the reuse or recovery of substances that would usually be regarded as waste. There are a few distinct recycling methods, for example, physical reprocessing, biological reprocessing, and energy recovery.
· Among the most frequent procedures of recycling is physical reprocessing. This is the method of carrying waste materials such as empty beverage containers and utilizing the material to create new materials.
· Materials like plants, food scraps, and paper products can also be decomposed into organic matter. The organic matter that is made from this kind of recycling may subsequently be used for items such as landscaping or agricultural applications. Usually, this recycling method is carried out by placing the materials in a container until they decompose.
Avoidance and reduction methods
The avoidance and reduction of waste is an essential part of waste management. Some avoidance methods include using second-hand products, repairing broken items and using them again, and designing reusable products.
